Amazon’s Kindle mysteriously disappeared from the stocks only to reappear as a brand new model, 24 hours later. The name remains the same but the form factor, color and other features have been changed, off course for the better. Recently the old Kindle got a price drop and was available for $189.

Features of the New Kindle

  • It is available in graphite and white colors.
  • High-Contrast E-Ink Screen: provides 50 percent better contrast for the clearest text and sharpest images, even in bright sunlight.
  • New Proprietary Screen Technology: Amazon’s latest technology makes pages turn 20 percent faster and fonts sharper and natural-looking.
  • New Sleek Design: With a 6-inch-size reading area, it weighs 8.7 ounces and is 1/3 of an inch thin.
  • Up To One Month of Battery Life with wireless turned OFF and up to 10 days with the wireless ON.
  • Free 3G Wireless.
  • Global Wireless Coverage with coverage in over 100 countries and territories.
  • New Built-In Wi-Fi support in addition to 3G.
  • Twice the Storage, Holds over 3,500 Books
  • Read Everywhere with Whispersync: It syncs your place across devices like iPhone, iPad, PC, Mac, BlackBerry, and Android-based devices, so you can pick up where you left off.
  • Text-to-Speech guide, so Kindle can read out loud to you.
  • Massive Selection: Over 630,000 books and over 1.8 million free, out-of-copyright, pre-1923 books such as “Pride and Prejudice”
  • New Lighted Leather Cover features an integrated, retractable reading light that lets you read comfortably anytime, anywhere.

With all the above features and more, the Kindle is very reasonably priced at $189, which is definitely a value for money. Readers who do not require free 3G wireless can avail the new Kindle Wi-Fi for $139 and download content over Wi-Fi.

Amazon will be shipping Kindle 3G and Kindle Wi-Fi on August 27th to customers in over 140 countries and 30 territories.
