Close on the heels of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab launch, there is news of yet another tablet seeking to compete with the Apple iPad. This time it’s from the chinese manufacturer CTL. Called the 2goPad SL10, the tablet is already available to pre-order for $499.

CTL 2go Pad has an Intel Atom N450 CPU at its heart and runs on Windows 7 as the operating system of choice. The tablet comes with a 10.1-inch LED capacitive screen with a 1024×600 resolution, integrated Intel graphics and Flash video support. In terms of storage, the 2goPad SL10 comes with a 250GB hard drive and 2GB of DDR2 memory. Connectivity features include Bluetooth, Wi-fi, two USB 2.0 ports and a microSD card reader. Other notable features include a 1.3MP webcam for video calling, a custom case and a 4-cell, 5-hour battery.

The launch of the new tablet is likely to heat up the tablet market further. But with CTL’s tablet priced at $499, we wonder if it will be any real threat to the iPad because the iPad’s starting price is also $499 and has a definite advantage as far as the brand goes. While we wait and watch, CLT is readying to its orders that are likely to ship from 15 October.
