Dell’s Streak, a high resolution tablet with full phone features powered by Android OS with GPS & camera, is now available in two new colors — Pure White, and Cherry Red. And here’s the good news. The device is being sold unlocked for $579 apiece, no strings of a contract attached, directly from the company website.

The original black model of this 5-inch smartphone/tablet will also continue to be offered. In fact, all the three devices will be available in the US exclusively through Best Buy.

Dell has updated the device, which previously ran Android 1.6, to Android 2.2 Froyo OS. The new Streak with Android 2.2 includes the Stage User Interface (UI) and a collection of widgets that bring your content such as music, photos, and email to your homescreen. It also includes Adobe Flash 10.1 support for the full mobile web experience and the capability to use your Dell Streak as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot that can be shared with up to 8 other devices.

The unlocked version presently comes only in black, but red and white ones are expected to hit the stores soon and is available for pre-order. For existing Streak owners, Dell has also announced an update to Froyo. The update is presently being rolled out in Europe. The US update is expected some time next month.
