Pentax Imaging Systems Division has unveiled a new digital SLR line, with colour accents, targeted at DSLR beginners. The lightweight Pentax K-r DSLR Camera comes in three colour choices that include traditional black, classic white and red. The colorful PENTAX K-r DSLR camera offers advanced yet simple to use features at a very attractive price.

The company touts the camera’s auto picture, scene, and custom image processing modes as being aimed to a “high degree of manual and priority control”. The Pentax K-r also boasts of features including a claimed 100-25600 ISO sensitivity range, responsive autofocus, a 12.4 megapixel low-noise sensor and widescreen HD video capture. The model has a 3-inch LCD with live view mode and has 6FPS frame rate that allows a user to capture 25 images in a single sequence. It can record 720p video at 25fps. Other features include a maximum 1/6000 second shutter speed, an 11-point AF assist lamp, and shake-reduction and dust removal mechanisms. It comes loaded with IrSimple high-speed infrared data transmission capabilities for wireless data transfer or IrSimple-compatible devices.

The K-r body is priced at $799.95 and will cost you as much as $999.95 when bundled with an 18-55 and 55-300 lens kit. You will have to wait until October if you are planning to buy Pentax K-r DSLR camera.

In related news, the company also introduced the smc Pentax DA 35mm F2.4 AL, standard lens designed exclusively for use with Pentax digital SLR cameras. Priced at $219.95, this lens can be used with a range of subjects and applications for “high-resolution images with edge-to-edge sharpness”. It will hit the stores in October.
