This is Thanksgiving week and Black Friday is when the holiday shopping season for 2010 starts with great deals for Black Friday as well as for Cyber Monday. Shoppers will rush to stores in herds; and for people not too comfortable jostling in the crowds there has to be an alternate way to shop and get bargains.

With the iPhone and iPad and a host of free apps one can shop from the comfort of home. These apps are:

Amazon App: Use the iTunes link for the Amazon app to search, shop, compare prices, get reviews and gifts from Amazon.com on Amazon Mobile. Current Amazon shoppers can access carts, order history, payment and order options and Prime Membership offers. Amazon Remembers is an experimental feature which lets you take a snapshot of a product and refer to it later. Great deals to check out at Amazon.

Best Buy: The Best Buy app through the iTunes link makes available weekly deals and you can browse available inventory and offers, reviews, ratings, deals and available accessories. This app permits management of shopping cart and finalize purchase on the mobile version of this website. To find gift this one has IdeaGiftr, also permitting photo searches and bar code scanning. There will be Black Friday deals here and this is a not-to-miss website, especially for video gamers looking for fantastic deals and news from Gamespot, trailers and screenshots of new games. Best Buy Reward Zone app allows you to be connected to the Reward Zone program membership while on the move and while buying from Best Buy make sure you earn points here too which can be used for future purchases.

eBay: eBay Mobile app (iPad) With this app buying on eBay becomes a snap using any of these three devices but not all features of eBay are available on the mobile devices which please note. You may search for items, place bids, watch items and purchase and even pay when auction is done with.

Target: (iPad) This app allows you to search your local store for availability and even its location within that store. It has features similar to the Best Buy app. If the store nearest does not have the item in stock it can show you the nearest one next which has it, gift suggestions based on age, gender, sex, price and occasion. Target shopping trips can be listed and managed. There are features common with Amazon here. The Target dog Bullseye is featured here which is cute to look at as a virtual bobble head but not of much use.

Why stand in freezing weather, hungry and thirsty and perhaps come away empty-handed? Sit in the comfort of your home and shop with these apps.
