The iPhone Dev Team has updated the Redsn0w tool to redsn0w 0.9.5b5-2. This current redsn0w 0.9.5b5-2 for Windows and Mac can only be used for iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G running on iOS 4.0. The new update adds two new options – ‘Enable battery percentage’ and ‘Verbose boot mode’.

The options available in redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5 includes

  • Install Cydia
  • Verbose mode
  • Custom boot logo
  • Custom recovery logo
  • Enable Multitasking
  • Enable homescreen wallpaper
  • Enable battery percentage

One of the important things that was added to the current redsn0w 0.9.5 update is the support for verbose boot mode. The verbose boot mode displays detailed information for each step and allows you to know if anything is going wrong. This will definitely help you to fix the things easily or or submit any bugs to the DevTeam.

If you rely on a carrier unlock then do stay away from using this tool. redsn0w 0.9.5 beta works only if your device has already been upgraded to the stock iOS 4.0GM IPSW. The iOS 4.0 update contains a baseband update and if you installed the IPSW, you would have already lost the carrier unlock and need to wait until the next release of ultrasn0w and blacksn0w.
