Finally the iPhone Dev-Team has released Redsn0w 0.9.5 to Jailbreak iPhone OS 4.0. The current Redsn0w 0.9.5 is a Beta version and is aimed at developers of jailbroken apps. Moreover Redsn0w 0.9.5 BETA supports only iPhone 3G atleast for now and requires Mac OS X. Redsn0w 0.9.5 uses the same pwnage2 DFU-mode exploit that the Dev-Team has been using since the 2.x days. The current Beta of Redsn0w 0.9.5 is not meant for the average end-user. There are many things “broken” with jailbroken apps in the 4.0beta1 environment. This current beta of redsn0w allows the developers behind jailbroken apps to fix their software before the general public gets iPhone OS 4.0.

So if you are a developer or a Jailbreak enthusiast then you can download Redsn0w 0.9.5 to Jailbreak iPhone 3G on 4.0 Firmware. This beta redsn0w does not perform hactivation so you’ll need a properly-registered developer UDID with Apple to get past the activation screen.

  • Devices Supported by Redsn0w 0.9.5 Beta – Currently only iPhone 3G is supported
  • Platforms Supported by Redsn0w 0.9.5 Beta – Available for only Mac OS X
  • FW Versions Supported by Redsn0w 0.9.5 Beta – Only iPhone OS 4.0 Beta supported

Please do download and use Redsn0w 0.9.5 Beta only if your device has already been upgraded to the stock 4.0 Beta 1 IPSW from Apple, which contains a baseband update. If you installed that IPSW, you have already lost the carrier unlock until the next planned release of ultrasn0w and blacksn0w.
