Apple’s iPhone OS 3.1.3 is released yesterday which has got some bug fixes and other security updates. If you have a iPhone 3GS/3G please stay away from it as it will update your baseband to 05.12.01. No tools out there on the Internet currently works with 3.1.3. So if you want to preserver your unlock on iPhone 3GS/3G then do not think about the firmware 3.1.3 atleast for now.

The latest Mac version of Redsn0w 0.9.4 from the iPhone Dev-Team can be used to jailbreak iPhone 2G on 3.1.3 Firmware and also iPod Touch 1G and 2G older models. You cannot use redsn0w to jailbreak iPod Touch 3G, 2G MC models and also iPhone 3GS/3G. If you have a iPhone 3G you can jailbreak it with redsn0w without unlock.

How to Jailbreak and Unlock iPhone 3.1.3 With Redsn0w 0.9.4

  • Download the latest version of iTunes and update your iPhone to the latest 3.1.3 Firmware.
  • Download redsn0w 0.9.4 for Mac and also download iPhone OS 3.1.2 ipsw file(We need the older 3.1.2 ipsw).
  • Now launch redsn0w 0.9.4 and browse to the original iPhone OS 3.1.2 .ipsw file(iPhone1,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw). Redsn0w will check to see if the firmware is valid and once the IPSW is successfully identified click “Next”.
  • Now from the options select “Install Cydia” and “Unlock”. If you need to customize the logos you can select the options for customizing boot and recovery logos.
  • Please make sure your device is both OFF and PLUGGED IN to the computer. If it is not off, plug the device into the computer FIRST. Then, hold down the Power button until “Slide to Power Off” appears, and then slide to power off. Click “next” only when your device is BOTH off and plugged in.
  • Now redsn0w will show you some instructions to enter into Recovery mode.
    • Hold down the “Power” button and immediately without releasing the power button, also hold down the “Home” button. Without releasing the “Home” button, release the “Power” button and keep holding the “Home” button for 30 second or until the installation starts.
  • Your iPhone will reboot once it is jailbroken.
  • Now to Unlock your iPhone 2G running on 3.1.3 firmware, just install BootNeuter app from Cydia. It can be installed by adding “BigBoss & Planet-iPhones” repository in Cydia.
  • After installing BootNeuter restart your iPhone and after restarting just set the settings and your iPhone will be unlocked.

We are warning you again that this 3.1.3 Firmware jailbreak is strictly for iPhone 2G, iPod Touch 1G and older non-MC iPod Touch 2G models. If you have got an iPhone 3GS/3G and already unlocked your device the do not attempt to upgrade your firmware to 3.1.3.

    i know that there’s a redsn0w 0.9 for 3.1.2 but is there an ultras0w for baseband 5.11.07? updating to 3.1.2 will upgrade the baseband. if i jailbreak using redsn0w 0.9, can i use blacksn0w to unlock 5.11.07?

    • Samrat P says:

Right now there is no unlocking tool for baseband 05.12.01. Upgrading to 3.1.3 will upgrade your baseband to 05.12.01. So do not upgrade to 3.1.3 firmware

Hey once you upgraded the baseband you are out of luck. Currently there are no unlock tools for the upgraded baseband. Just wait for someone to release a tool.

An AT&T representative’s error had effectively ‘bricked’ my 2g iPhone so that all I could get was the ’emergency’ connect to iTunes screen and following that, this SIM card does not appear to be supported even though it was their SIM. Worked with them for a week to try to get things corrected, to no avail, and their final judgment was that it had to be an “equipment” error. Why didn’t that surprise me?

I’m old and have no real concept of what is going on here, but followed your directions exactly and now have an (apparently) jailbroken and unlocked 2g iPhone doing all the things an iPhone should do! I guess your stuff repairs equipment, too.

    Thanks.
