Scammers Phishing for Sensitive iPhone Data With FREE iPhone Warranty Extension for 1 Year

If you are an iPhone users then beware of the ongoing phishing campaign which tries to get some sensitive information from you. The Phishing attack impersonating Apple.com, tries to retrieve your important information such as email, IMEI number etc. So if you are suspicious about any email, then do look at the full headers of the email to find the real sender of the email. Never click any suspicious links in your email and enter your data.

Coming into the details, the phishing campaign tries to trick with an offer saying “FREE 1 Year Warranty Extension Offer”. The email subject consist of messages like “Don’t Miss: FREE and Exclusive iPhone Warranty Extension for 1 Year!“, “IMPORTANT: Your FREE iPhone Warranty Extension for 1 Year!“, “CONGRATULATIONS: Your FREE iPhone Warranty Extension for 1 Year!” and there will be a link in the message which will lead you to a domain like “www.apple.com.PhishingSite.com/iphone/warranty.html”. The Phishing Site will ask you details like your email address, iPhone Serial number, IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) Number, iPhone Model (ie. 3GS/3G) and the capacity of the device (ie. 16GB / 32GB).

The fraudsters can use your data for many purposes and you might be responsible for that. So if you are suspicious about any email try to read the full headers and check the actual sender. Also keep an eye on the domain name that is shown up in the browsers address bar. If you are not aware of any of these, then just ignore the mail.
