“USB Drive” App For Jailbroken iPhone – Use iPhone or iPod Touch as USB Mass Storage Device

Recently, we heard a lot about an application called “USB Drive“, using which the users can use their iPhone as an USB stick. The USB Drive App reached its release stage and this updated version is marked as 1.1. Coming with many bug fixes and properly working ReadOnly option, Version 1.1 of USB Drive has no date restrictions unlike the previous beta version. You will require Cydia to install USB Drive and use your iPhone as a mass storage device. So if you are interested in trying out “USB Drive“, then you need to jailbreak your iPhone.

Instructions to use your iPhone as a USB Drive

  • Launch Cydia from your iPhone Springboard and select Manage from the tabs at the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the large Sources button and the press the Edit button available at the top right of the sources list.
  • Now press the Add button at the top left and enter http://apt.dmytro.me as the Cydia/APT URL, again press the Add Source button. This updates the sources in your Cydia. Once finished press Return button.
  • Press the Done button at the top right of the sources list.
  • Once you have pressed Done, you will be provided with a screen containing all sources, there Press to select the recently added apt.dmytro.me source.
  • Select the USB Drive package from the list of packages and press Install button at the top right of the screen.
  • Press the Confirm button at the top right of the screen and once confirmed Cydia will now install your package.
  • After completion of installation, press the Return to Cydia.
  • Press the Home Button and return to your Springboard and on the Springboard, press to launch USB Drive from your list of applications.
  • In order to create a Virtual Disk on the iPhone, Press the “Create Disk” button and enter a name for the virtual disk you want to create along with space you would like to allocate for it. Press Create button at the top right of the screen and doing so you have successfully created you own disk space on the iPhone, and it is now ready to be utilized as USB stick.

    Is there a way to browse the usb drive from iPhone/iPod? Also, can I email from the usb drive I created from iPhone/iPod?

    Ive been trying to get usb drive to work, it use to work on 3.1.2 with blackra1n. Now i have a spirit JB on 3.1.3 USB drive will not open or operate. Any idea on a link to an update?
