Best Buy, a specialty retailer of consumer electronics in the US, has launched a ‘Free Phone Fridays’ program. The program will run every Friday in October. It’s essentially promotional gimmick that will see Best Buy Mobile strip down prices of selected handset to nothing for every Friday during the month.

Starting October 1, each Free Phone Friday will include a handset from T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T or Verizon. The first week’s selections are reported to include:

  • Samsung Fascinate (Verizon)
  • BlackBerry Curve (Sprint)
  • HTC Aria (AT&T)
  • Samsung Gravity 3 (T-Mobile)

That’s not a bad line-up, to kick off the program. And potential buyers are already getting curious about other phones that the retailer would offer in the subsequent weeks. While the marketing program has given Best Buy an opportunity to turn the attention of buyers towards the store, it is also expected to give buyers another reason to look forward to their weekends.
