Maybe this should not be mentioned first but the Optimus Black from LG features a 2MP front-facing camera, fulfilling longings of a number of smartphone users. Another noteworthy feature is its super slim form factor that is 9.2 mm at its thickest and 6 mm at its slimmest.

The NOVA display is yet another feature worth mentioning. It is a 4-inch extremely bright screen. It is claimed to consume less than half the power of AMOLED, allowing extended browsing times. Claimed 50% better power efficiency coupled with the 1500 mAH battery is supposed to give upto 24 hours of uninterrupted usage.

The device is based on Froyo (v2.2) with the unique Optimus UI 2.0. Update to Gingerbread (v 2.3) may be available in the future. Another first is the Wi-Fi direct feature that enables fast data transfer between two mobile devices.

The Optimus Black from LG is a worthy successor to the Optimus 2x dual cored Tegra-powered smartphone.
