Many companies are now using the Social Networking to bring in their products much closer to the people. Nokia is one of the company which is making a very good move by interacting very closely with the people to understand their mobile needs and thus bring up better products. Recently (10/01/2010) Nokia has organized a Tweetup in its Nokia Concept Store at Bangalore where many people had a real good time taking with the developers of “NewsHunt” and “Touch2Sparkle“. The demo of both the apps went well and many people even tried them at the spot.

Nokia Tweetup and Touch Apps Demonstration at Nokia Concept Store

The best thing I liked about the tweetup is the Nokia’s plans on bringing both the developers and the users on to the same platform. This will give a better insight on how well we can use our smartphones. On the other hand this also helps the developers to design better products based on the users feedback.

The 2 apps that are demonstrated in the Nokia Tweetup are “NewsHunt” and “Touch2Sparkle“. Both the apps are designed for touch screen mobiles like 5800 and N97.

NewsHunt allows Mobile users to read the news paper of their choice on the go in their regional language like Telugu, Kannada etc. With NewsHunt you can read many leading Indian newspapers on your GPRS enabled mobiles. The best thing about the app is the customized data which will reduce your GPRS usage. Supported languages include Hindi , Marathi , Punjabi , Gujarati , Bengali , Telugu , Kannada , Malayalam and Tamil. Touch2Sparkle is an interesting game which will keep you busy with your mobile. This touch-based interactive game can be played by tapping on a card which reveals an image. Discovering cards of the same image takes the pair off the screen. You need to find all such pairs to win and lesser the moves taken, the better. You can even enhance your memory skills by matching your way through 6 levels of progressive difficulty. The other good thing is that both the apps are totally free and you can download them from the OVI store.

Totally the demonstration of the apps created much interest in the touch screen mobiles among many visitors. The other interesting thing is that there was a lucky draw at the end of the tweetup and the prizes included the latest “Nokia 5320” and 2 Bluetooth headsets. The BIG thing for me to celebrate the occasion is that I’m the lucky guy who walked out with the “Nokia 5230”. PePePe…
