Recently, I have been really impressed by a handset and its user interface and thought of sharing with all of you as it certainly deserves a praise. If you have guessed it to be a technically enhanced smart phone, then it isn’t so. Yes, you heard it right! The mobile I’m talking about is a low-end QWERTY handset from Nokia called Nokia X2-01, which neither has 3G nor has a tremendously powerful camera, but still possesses all the features that a decent phone should have.

Priced affordably and packed with impressive features, Nokia X2-01 is certain to go a long way. Aiming at the larger audience who does not need a sophisticated handset, but expect a handset with great social networking capabilities, simple user interface and quick communication features, Nokia X2-01 is designed to meet all their expectations. With best build quality, sleek design and musically inclined capabilities this handset stands out of the crowd and is the only the second QWERTY messenger feature phone by Nokia after the C3.

Nokia X2-01 comes with basic accessories – a charger, one-piece handsfree earphones that supports a 3.5mm audio jack. Weighing nearly 100 grams, X2-01 is all plastic handset that has a curved back with microSD slot and the microUSB port covered by a common rubber lid on the phone’s left side. Including a entry level QWERTY keypad, Nokia X2-01 makes texting much easier. Along with this four-rowed QWERTY keypad having nice convex keys, you will also find a traditional D-pad and Voice answering buttons on the handset. However, there aren’t any volume toggle keys or dedicated camera key on the handset, which would have been a cherry on the top.

Running on Nokia’s Series 40 user interface, Nokia X2-01 looks much like a Symbian S60 3rd. Bringing the simple, responsive user interface of S40, X2-01 is quite acknowledgeable for its price. As all S40 handsets, Nokia X2-01 enables users to save 2000 contacts, each one with up to five numbers, which isn’t surprising. Though this handset lacks Nokia proprietary Voice Clarity feature, the in-call quality is amazing.

Other features of Nokia X2-01 includes Quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity, 2.4 inch display, Fixed internal antenna, capabilities to record running calls, pre-installed gallery application, Bluetooth connectivity, support for various audio and video formats, impressive audio quality and many more. Like all other X series handsets, you can also rejoice features like music at one click, the media player, FM radio and even the Ovi Music service, that lets you access vast library of tunes at an ease in X2-01. Web browsing speed is limited to EDGE Disappointingly, the X2-01 comes with a VGA camera, does not include smart dialing or USB charging capabilities, and as we know it is due to the pricing limitations.
