Verizon Wireless and Samsung Mobile have announced the upcoming availability of the Samsung Continuum, a Galaxy S smartphone in the US. Putting out an absolutely new feature in touchscreen phone history, the Continuum will have not one but two Super AMOLED screens — a 3.4-inch touch screen Super AMOLED main display and a customizable 1.8-inch Super AMOLED dedicated ticker display. The ticker display will stream customized information in real time.

Making the ‘dedicated ticker display’ the main attraction of this phone, Samsung has stepped into a completely new arena of physical features for the touchscreen phone. The ticker display is a 1.8 inch screen which has been placed just below the capacitive touch buttons.

After launching the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone, which shipped a whopping 3 million handsets in the US alone, out of a total of 7 million globally, the Samsung Continuum is the next big thing in Samsung’s profile.
