Recently we have seen the release of the much awaited Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) beta – the 64-bit browser. And in conjunction with this release, Adobe has released a preview of its Adobe Flash Player called “Square” which would render support for the 64-bit version. Square, the 64-bit version of the flash player is fully functional and is compatible with all the 64-bit operating systems – Windows, Linux and Mac OS X platforms.

With enhanced features, Adobe Flash Player Square provides direct support to the hardware-accelerated graphics capabilities of IE9. Being a standalone version, Square requires manual updates once installed onto PC and it will not provide any information or automatically updates about the final releases of the Flash player. The official complete version might take a little time to be available, hopefully by first half of 2011, however if you want to check this preview version, you can download it from the official website. Also remember that you have to manually un-install this flash player in order install the complete version.

Flash Player “Square” Features

  • 64-bit support — Native support for 64-bit operating systems and 64-bit web browsers on Linux, Mac OS, and Windows.
  • Internet Explorer 9 hardware accelerated rendering support — Enhanced support for Internet Explorer 9 Beta. It takes advantage of hardware accelerated graphics in Internet Explorer 9 Beta, utilizing hardware rendering surfaces to improve graphics performance and enable seamless composition.
