The iOS 4.2 Gold Master has been released to the developers by Apple and is a prelude to the final version of the iOS 4.2 which will be released later in November 2010. This updated operating system is for Apple’s iPhone 4/3GS/3G, iPod Touch 4G/3G/2G and iPad (Wi-Fi/3G). Major updates that come with this improved pre-final version:

Multi-tasking Bar – This  allows adjustments in volume, brightness and other functions at the same time, will now be present in the iPad as well.

AirPrint wireless printing and AirPlay media streaming are two new features that bring all current generation iDevices to the same level. This excludes the iPhone 3G though.

MIDI Support – For serious music lovers and musicians, with the MIDI support in the iOS4.2, the iDevice can be transformed into a real studio tool. It is an added advantage to iPad users since the large screen enhances controls in this application.

The iOS 4.2 Gold Master is available only to developers and not open to general user population., So if you have a registered Apple Developer account, you can download this version from the iPhone Development Center.
