I was looking for a freeware alternative for iTunes to manage my new iPod shuffle and found Floola. Floola is a simple yet effective standalone application to efficiently manage your iPod without having to use the Apple iTunes. As it is a standalone application you can run it directly from your iPod without any installation. With the help of Floola you can easily manage Music, Videos, Podcast and Photos on your Linux (Need GTK2 distro), Mac OS X (10.3.9 or higher) and Windows (98 or newer) machine.

The interface of Floola looks similar to iTunes. So you will find it very easy to use without any confusion. With Floola you can easily add songs and video to your iPod by dropping them on the small ‘Add’ window that Floola shows. You can also edit the tags and other information about the song during the import procedure or it can be done after that. The latest version has got better artwork support, improved compatibility with iTunes, faster overall usage and improved stability.

With Floola apart from managing your music, you can do lot many things. You can easily add and extract songs to and from iPod. Managing, importing and exporting (m3u, pls) playlists will be very easier. You can even search for duplicate and lost files very easily. Floola supports streaming of Internet radio from Last.fm. You can easily download web videos from sites like Youtube, Metacafe and MySpace to your iPod. It can also convert any incompatible audio or video file so that you don’t need any other application. You can even keep your Google calendars syncronized, add artwork to your songs, Fix iPod Errors and export your songs list to HTML file.
