Subtitles

Subtitles is a simple freeware application that helps you to find subtitles for movies. After installing Subtitles all you need to do is right click on the movie file, choose a language from the selection and just click. Your web browser will open up, displaying a perfect set of subtitles for you to download. Subtitles doesn’t search for the movie name while looking for subtitles and instead calculates the checksum. If it doesn’t already have that particular checksum stored in its database, it automatically looks for it elsewhere on the internet.

Sublight

Sublight helps you to easily search and download movie subtitles. Sublight is free application for searching and downloading movie subtitles directly from Windows. Sublight supports manual and auto search modes. In the auto search mode you can locate the video file and Sublight finds the subtitles based on the file name. In the manual mode you can feed the Movie Title, Year etc to download the subtitles. Moreover you can use Sublight to download subtitles for your favorite TV shows by providing the Season and Episode numbers. Once subtitles are displayed you can click on any of the subtitle to play the Movie with that particular subtitle.

SubDownloader

SubDownloader is a program for automatic download/upload subtitles for video files (DIVX,MPEG,AVI,VOB,etc) and DVD’s using fast hashing. How To Play Movies With Subtitles

Play Movies With Subtitles in VLC Media Player

If you are using VLC Media Player you can just drag and drop the subtitle file on to your movie to display the subtitles. Alternatively you can rename the subtitle file to the name of your movie and VLC will display the subtitles for you. Also you can open a subtitle file from Video->Subtitles Track->Open File

Play Movies With Subtitles in Windows Media Player

If you use Windows Media Player then you need to first install DirectVobSub. Once DirectVobSub is installed just goto Play->Captions and Subtitles->On if available. Alternatively you can right click on the movie then “Lyrics, Captions and Subtitles” -> “On if available”

Play Movies With Subtitles in DivX Player

If you are using DivX Player then you can just rename the subtitle file to the name of your movie and DivX Player will display the subtitles.

How To Burn Subtitles to Movies Permanently (Hard Coding Subtitles)

If you are looking to encode your movie with subtitles then you can try out VirtualDub.

  • Download and Install VirtualDub
  • Download Vobsub and during installation select VobSub for Virtualdub and TextSub for Virtualdub and AviSynth under Plugins
  • Open VirtualDub, Go to File->Open Video File and select the AVI.
  • Now go to Video on menu bar, select Filters and click Add button, select TextSub and click OK.
  • In TextSub settings click open button and add the  subtitle file.
  • Now process and save your movie using your favorite compression codec.
