Microsoft has released an update for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 users which provides new functionality and performance improvements for the graphics platform. This new update from Microsoft will improve the performance of DirectX 11 in Windows 7 and Server 2008. MS says that this update provides performance improvements for the graphics platform and you should also install this update to support features in an upcoming release of an Internet Explorer 9 platform preview build.

Update for Windows 7 (KB2028560) will update some of the DirectX 11 files including D2d1.dll, Fntcache.dll, Dwrite.dll, D3d10_1.dll, D3d10_1core.dll and D3d10warp.dll. The update (Windows6.1-KB2028560-v2-x86.msu) is available for all supported x86-based versions of Windows 7 and supported x64-based versions of Windows 7 and of Windows Server 2008 R2. This download is available to customers running genuine Microsoft Windows and requires a validation.
