The data with us should be kept safe and it should withstand any kind of environment. A New flash drive named XtremKey has been announced by LaCie which can withstand pressure, water, heat and drops. So now you can keep your data safe in any location with the PC and Mac compatible XtremKey. The drive is placed inside a 2mm thick pipe covered by Zamac which is made from zinc, aluminum, magnesium and copper alloy. Rubber O-ring and wear resistant screw threads seals the shell to get maximum protection.

The company says that this flash drive is really tough and resist when being run over by a 10-ton truck and five meter drops (16.4 feet). And this will also work well in extreme temperatures conditions ranging from 58 to 392 (-50 to +200 Celsius). Further this drive can be water tight up to 100 meters (328 feet) of depth. You can get XtremKey at LaCie’s online stores for $50 for 8GB.

However when you compare with the rivals, Corsair offers 16GB Flash survivor drive for $50 and you get normal non-ruggedized flash drives with 8GB capacity for $20 or even at lesser price. But if you think that data requires more protection, you can go for XtremKey.
