Samsung Launches Omnia 7 Featuring 4″ AMOLED TouchScreen, Xbox LIVE and Zune

We had a cursory glance at the Samsung Omnia 7 when initial specs were released by the company’s Russian website. The company has now revealed more details on Omnia 7, which will be the company’s first smartphone with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 platform, to be available across Europe and Asia during the holiday shopping season. And we hear Three UK has started accepting pre-orders for the device beginning today.

The phone sports a 4-inch Super AMOLED touch screen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor and a 5 megapixel camera. Raising its entertainment quotient are Xbox LIVE features and games and Zune music and video options.

Look & feel/ Design

The Omnia 7 touts a minimalist design and clean finish with a metallic accent. It flaunts a 4-inch Super AMOLED touch screen for an improved viewing experience, even outdoors. The device includes a 5 megapixel snapper with LED flash and comes with support for microSD expansion up to 32GB.


The phone comes with integrated Xbox LIVE and Zune; and users can access these features directly on the mobile. Users can automatically sync content from their PC via Wi-fi, enabling them to enjoy their music and videos anywhere.


The phone boasts of the intuitive, dynamic user interface of Windows Phone 7 complemented by Windows Phone Hubs to help them better organize information and simplify tasks. Another notable feature is the phone’s customizable Start Screen with live Tiles that display real-time updates from the web, news, appointments, or social media status directly to the home screen. Users will have access to a catalog of social networking and photo sharing sites and can share images and media files with friends with a single touch.


The phone will also launch on Orange, SFR, Movistar, and T-Mobile across Europe in time for the holidays.
