T-Mobile Launches Android-powered myTouch that Delivers HD Video Connections and Lightning Fast 4G Speeds

T-Mobile USA has announced the launch of a new smartphone, the Android-powered T-Mobile myTouch, which comes with support for the operator’s new ‘super-fast’ HSPA+ mobile broadband network. The T-Mobile myTouch enables sharing of photos and videos with the HD camcorder, supporting face-to-face conversations through video chat as well as the ability to offer 4G speeds on T-Mobile’s new network.

T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network is now spread across 65 major metropolitan areas in the US, details of which are available on the company’s website. With its latest expansion, T-Mobile’s HSPA+ footprint now includes Biloxi and Gulfport, Mississippi; Denver, Colorado; Huntsville, Alabama; Knoxville, Tennessee; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Norfolk, Virginia; Omaha, Nebraska; Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona; Salt Lake City, Utah; San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland and Sacramento, California; and West Palm Beach, Florida. The company expects to reach 100 metropolitan areas this year.

With the myTouch’s front-facing camera paired with Video Chat through Yahoo Messenger or QIK, customers can hold video conversations with other T-Mobile myTouch users, or other compatible mobile device or PC. Customers can even see who is available to chat through presence information integrated into the myTouch’s address book, and have the option to leave Video Mail using Qik when someone is unavailable.

The myTouch smartphone comes with three exclusive features – Genius Button, powered by Dragon Dictation from Nuance that lets users to call, text, e-mail or access the internet with a simple voice command; Faves Gallery that offers shortcuts to one’s most-contacted family/friends; and myModes that creates customized home screens for work and home.

The new T-Mobile myTouch is expected to be available in time for the Christmas holiday season. The phone is available in four color choices — white, black, plum or red.
