Greenshot – Freeware Screenshot Tool With Simple Features

Written By Sam on 25 May 2009

If you are looking for a simple yet effective screenshot tool then you can try out Greenshot. Greenshot is a free screenshot tool optimized for productivity. You can easily take a screenshot or a part of the screen and save it in few seconds. You can even apply text, add shapes to the screenshot with the limited editor.

Greenshot supports Region mode, Window mode and Fullscreen mode capture. It shows you the coordinates as you start drawing your capture area. After the image is captured you can add Arrows, Shapes, text etc and save the image in various formats like PNG, JPG, BMP and GIF. You can even send the captured image directly to the printer. The best thing I liked is the “capture last region” which will capture the screen area that you have selected earlier. Though is doesn’t look great it is worth trying as it is a Freeware application and is just 156KB.

  2. I think it’s a good alternative for people on Windows XP/2000 since we have SnippingTool in Vista/7 🙂
