The Macintosh Business Unit (MacBU) at Microsoft is very eager to bring out the latest Office for Mac 2011. The latest Office for Mac 2011 which will be available later this year has got many exciting features. Office for Mac 2011 features New Co-Authoring Tools and Office Web Apps; New User Interface Design With Office for Mac Ribbon; Outlook for Mac Supports .PST Import.

New Co-Authoring Tools and Office Web Apps

Co-authoring tools in Office 2011 for Mac gives you the ability to work on Word, PowerPoint and Excel files from different locations. Different people in the team can stay on the same page regardless of time, geography or platform. Moreover Presence Everywhere feature gives you a real-time status update on who is working on the document directly in the application.

Office for Mac 2011 also provides a connection to Microsoft Office Web Apps from the application. This will definitely give you an easy way to access and share Office documents from any machine with an Internet connection. Office Web Apps is currently in beta stage, but would definitely help you to be more productive by allowing you to work virtually from anywhere. Office Web Apps are available to both home and business users and allows your documents to be stored via your Windows Live ID account or on Microsoft SharePoint Technologies.

New User Interface Design: Office for Mac Ribbon

Another big addition to the Office 2011 suite is the ribbon interface, a new design which is an evolution of the Office 2008 Elements Gallery and uses the classic Mac menu and Standard Toolbar giving you the best of both worlds. Users can even collapse the ribbon and the Toolbar for more screen space or for the more advanced users who rely on keyboard shortcuts.

New: Outlook for Mac Supports .PST Import

Along with Office products, Outlook for Mac is coming to Office 2011, replacing Entourage. Outlook for Mac will support importing of .PST files from Outlook for Windows. This will help people who work between Windows and Mac OS. Outlook for Mac is a new application which is being built using Cocoa, allowing for improved integration with the Mac OS. Outlook for Mac features a reliable, high-speed, file-based database with Spotlight search and back-up support from Time Machine.
