ViewSonic’s First 7-inch Android Tablet Featuring 3.5G, Dual Camera To Hit Indian Stores Soon

Android watchers, take note. ViewSonic is launching its ViewPad 7 that is likely to hit Indian stores soon. ViewPad 7 is being touted as a multi-functional, multi-media, Android-enabled device that can be used for video-conferencing, social networking, and enjoying AV entertainment.

The device is claimed to be the ‘first’ 7-inch Android 2.2 (Froyo) + 3.5G media pad with a phone function, and boasts of 1.15cm thickness. It supports data and entertainment functions, features a large screen for visual appeal and should score on the portability element for those on-the-go. With full phone functionality, a full-size SIM card slot and integrated Bluetooth connectivity, the ViewPad 7 will support instant messaging, text/MMS messaging, VOIP and standard voice calls, all in a single device. The company promises, “users can tap on GMS to access the internet, GPS/A-GPS to find their latest bearings, receive and send e-mail, network with friends on Facebook, Plurk, and Twitter anytime, anywhere”. What’s more, they can download all types of applications from the Android Market and customize the device’s multimedia interface.

The netbook has rear and front-facing cameras. One is embedded at its back and can be used to take pictures, edit photos and upload them directly to Facebook or Picasa. The second is a video-conferencing camera at the front. Other notable features include 720p high-resolution visuals and dual-stereo surround speakers.
