Use Free Microsoft Security Essentials to Protect Your Windows 7, Vista and XP Computers

Microsoft Security Essentials provides real-time protection for your home PC that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. If you are using Genuine Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3), Windows Vista (Gold, Service Pack 1, or Service Pack 2) or Windows 7 then you can install Microsoft Security Essentials to protect your computer from Viruses, Spyware and Trojans.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a free download from Microsoft that is simple to install and easy to use. Microsoft Security Essentials helps protect your computer against malicious software by enabling automatic updating and Microsoft Update, to keep your Microsoft Software up to data and also makes it safer for you to browse the Internet.

Today I downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials which is around 4.3MB in size. During the installation you have to validate your copy of Windows. Microsoft says that “MSE is available to customers running a genuine and properly licensed copy of Windows”. Microsoft also warns you to remove other antivirus or antispyware programs installed on your computer as they may conflict with Microsoft Security Essentials and prevent it from working properly. The overall experience with MSE until now is very good.
