When Nokia had unveiled its X2 in the Indian market last April, consumers were impressed – more with reports that a 5-megapixel camera phone will be available for around Rs. 5,000. The phone was supposed to hit stores here by June but due to a delay, it finally launched in the country only recently, three months behind schedule with a price tag of Rs. 5,999.

Now, here’s the latest. Soon after the launch, the company issued a press release revising the price of the new handset to Rs. 6,579. Well, that’s not what had excited consumers initially. But if you have been waiting to grab this phone, you may want to check with your dealer and find out the original market rate that could be lower than the MRP.

As for the features, the X2 music phone flaunts a 2.2 inch QVGA display with dedicated music keys, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.1, EDGE and 3.5mm headset jack and dual speakers. It also comes with Facebook integration, a 5MP snapper, microSD card support and runs Nokia’s proprietary S40 OS. The handset is available in three color variants: black, red & silver and blue. However, what remains to be seen is how Indian consumers, who are getting lured by feature-rich and cheaper home-grown handsets, will still go for the X2 despite the higher price tag.
